KIDNAPPED!

     On April 3, early in the morning, a group of men broke into the nuns’ quarters of the Orthodox convent of Mesic in Serbia and dragged away a 22 year old novice, threatening to set light to the convent if the nuns called for help. Biljana Cutevska, a former biochemistry student in Ohrid, had joined the convent 2 months before and had taken the name of Anna. An article in the Novi Sad newspaper “Dnevnik” claimed that “her decision had annoyed not only her parents but the whole of the general public.” (KNS #255, 5/29/86)
